The Domestic Kitchen

April 28th, 2010

Many fires start in the average domestic kitchen. Yet it’s surprising how few people think to have the means to put out a fire at home. When you think of the cost of replacing items in your home (yes, it’s insured but you still have to pay the excess!), the cost of preventative measures is very small. A proper fire blanket is usually kept in a wall mounted container with tabs on so it can be pulled free quite easily and used to deprive the fire of oxygen. Large fire extinguishers to quell extensive flames where the blanket isn’t practical can be purchased for very little and if kept in a handy place can be a house saver, not to mention a life saver.
