When I was in college I worked for an alarm company as a monitor.  I ended up working there for my entire college career.  It was the perfect job for a student.  If there were alarms going off, you called to see if everything was okay and, if necessary, you called the police and fire dispatchers.  Otherwise, if there weren’t any issues that needed your attention, you could pretty much do whatever you wanted.  The people in school did all of their homework and studying while at work, while the people who didn’t go to school would read, talk on the phone, or play cards.  It was a great job because you had periods of excitement, but you could also do whatever you wanted until an alarm went off.  I would definitely be an alarm monitor again.
